JUST TRAIN FOR - MBS
Have you ever heard of the mind-body-spirit connection? Maybe you thought this was just a mystic concept, but this ideology and lessons within are now becoming highly sought after in our current society and culture. A philosophy that may have once only been considered useful for those in search of enlightenment, the mind-body-spirit connection can even apply to the fast paced life of a wallstreet business person.
The expression all work and no play certainly rings true when talking about the notion of balance. In the fitness world, we often think of grueling workouts, slamming iron down on the ground, shoveling chicken and broccoli down our throats and drinking that highly marketed protein powder that tastes like a peanut butter cup. This is only one piece of the pie, or cup if used in that the last sentence. Being “healthy” is not determined by how much cardio you do. Being healthy is about how much balance is in your life. Balance determined by how you feel. A good dose of working out is crucial, but should it only apply to the physical body? What about the mind? The mind is the most active part of our body processing over 50,000 thoughts in a day, and yet all worry about to be fit is to hit hypertrophy with the dumbbells. Training the mind is just as important as training your biceps. This is a concept that is often disregarded. Most feel isn’t necessary to train the mind in order to be healthy and happy, until they start doing it.
Imagine growing your capability of using your mind every day, the same way that you can grow your shoulders or develop that 6-pack. Whether it’s starting up a new business, or dealing with an annoying coworker, we are all flooded with stress in our daily lives that we often neglect the most important part of it: ourselves.
One area of focus is the ability to improve attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm state through meditation.
